Water.  We all know we cannot survive long without water.  We truly need it to live.  But have you ever really thought about why we need water?  What does this wonderful H2O do?  If you’re curious – read on to be inspired to enjoy plenty of pure H2O and greater wellness.

How Water is Used by the Body

1.      Water allows red blood cells to carry more oxygen to the tissues.  The muscles of our heart and skeletal muscles function best when well hydrated.

2.      Our brain relies on oxygen carried by water to promote mental clarity, ability to form memories, and support our glymphatic drainage system.

3.      Water has been shown to lessen addictions to sugar, foods, alcohol, or drugs. (Consuming water is often listed among tips for overcoming addiction and withdrawal.)

4.      Water helps supply our cells with the needed hydrogen and oxygen to promote mitochondrial ATP production, cellular metabolism of nutrients and the detoxification of waste products.

5.      Then good ol’ H2O helps carry these toxins to our liver and kidneys to continue to purify and eliminate them so they don’t build up and make us feel sick.

When there is insufficient water in our system it may contribute to:

1.      Headaches or migraines.

2.      Constipation.

3.      Stomach and digestive issues.

4.      Brain fog, mental fatigue, or memory loss.

5.      Heat exhaustion on warmer days or when doing exercise.

6.      Congested liver and sluggish bile flow.

7.      Congested lymphatic system.

8.      General feeling of ill health.

Drinking flavored waters, sports drinks, vitamin waters, tea, or coffee does not equal drinking pure water.  All of these have to be digested by the body and likely contain chemicals, additives, and toxins that the body has to deal with instead of just put to work for its benefit.  Coffee and tea generally, dehydrate us rather than hydrate.  There is nothing that compares to, or that can replace pure water.

Sip away, enjoying the one of the necessities of life.  You could grab a glass now and learn more about the water I feel is currently the best option. 😊

Blessings and sunshine!
