Have you ever had a physical experience that rocked your world? I did in January of 2020. What follows is My Heart Story. I share it in hopes that it may help somebody else out there.

One quiet wintry day, I was walking our dog, Champ, like I do most days. We were almost home when an unexpected event happened that left Champ injured and me in a heap. A pit bull that was at a neighbor’s house came out of their garage to the sidewalk and launched a death grip around Champ’s neck. Thankfully, my neighbor was there to pull the dog off and away from Champ. Once able, I scooped up my bleeding and yelping Champ and carried him the rest of the way home.

This event led us to learn that my dog and I both had heart issues! Thankfully, with some rest, supplements, and TLC, Champ recovered.

Following this event, I began the next chapter in my journey to wellness. I was so fatigued. I slept at least 15 hours a day. I could hardly stay awake during the day. I felt sharp, shooting nerve pains. It seemed like my electrical system had gone haywire, or was at least short-circuiting. I felt a heaviness in my chest and I also felt some significant heart palpitations. Needless to say, I wasn’t able to work during this time. I slept a lot! And during the few hours that I was awake, I did research and online training.

I made myself get up in the morning, or I had my husband get me up so I would be up during the day. Even if I napped in the chair on and off all day long, I thought it would be best to tell my body that it was daytime. I should be up and moving. I didn’t feel up to moving much, but I could rest in front of a window and receive natural sunlight.

Trusting that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, I knew where I needed to go. I went to a fellow Nutrition Response Tester who had a heart sound recorder. The reading from the heart sound recorder revealed that my valves were not functioning well at all. Three of my four main heart valves were not opening and closing properly, and the fourth valve was not doing much better. There was a lot of fluttering going on in my valves. No wonder I was feeling so lousy!

At this point in my life, I wasn’t a stranger to having health issues. Prior to this happening, my health journey was filled with ups and downs. Fatigue, brain fog, digestive issues, anxiety, adrenal issues, and some aches and pains were among the difficulties that I faced. Often times, I also experienced dizziness upon standing. (I had already eliminated wheat and dairy from my diet.) I had been to a number of regular doctors and some naturopathic practitioners. I received the most noticeable help doing natural things. I had a solid belief in our innate ability to heal.

I knew my choice to do Nutrition Response Testing was not what most people would do. But given what I knew and from my life’s experiences, I truly believed that this type of testing was my best option. (*NOTE: I advise you to always see your licensed health professional for all health related issues.) I am just being honest and upfront with you about my thought process.

Through Nutrition Response Testing, I discovered my body was struggling with a number of underlying causes that, in my opinion, made me more susceptible to having a major heart event. So, what happened to my dog and me, turned out to be a blessing. Once we knew which stressors my body was struggling with, we could zero in on what my body needed to get back on track. I needed to get the hidden toxins out of my body so it could function better again! These toxins that were affecting my heart needed to be dealt with.

I began a full-scale improvement program, taking my supplements as determined by muscle testing techniques. Gradually more energy was being produced by my body. Within four months, I was starting to feel much better. A new heart sound recorder analysis showed some improvement in my valve function too! Armed with an even greater appreciation for how fearfully and wonderfully we are made, I was able to go back to work for short stretches, and I was better equipped to help others using what I had learned.

I am intermittently doing detox programs yet today, and I have a few supplements I rotate and take regularly regardless of whether I am on a program or not. I continue to improve and work through more layers of accumulated toxins as my body is ready to release them. I can feel my strength and stamina continuing to improve.

When I reflect on the event that was traumatic at the time, I am now grateful. Because of what happened, my dog and I started giving our bodies the support they needed to get better and get back to doing what we love to do. Walk in the sunshine - together! (Update: Champ has passed away since the first writing of this story. He lived an active life until just a few months prior to his passing away in December of 2022. I still miss having him around and taking walks with him.)

If you have been battling your own set of health issues, please don’t wait for a major event to happen to you. There are many toxins that can affect heart health and function. My story had a happy ending, but it doesn’t always end that way.

I had signs that I didn’t realize could be affecting my heart. Some of the signs that had been present for years were low energy, lack of stamina, and adrenal fatigue. Find out if hidden toxins, like heavy metals, biotoxins, parasites, and chemicals, could be affecting your heart and your overall health. Addressing toxins like these has given me a fulfilling life in which I enjoy vibrant energy without heart palpitations.

Honestly, I finally feel like my body is performing more the way God created me to. It’s been quite a journey, but I am so thankful that with the help of God, I stuck with it. I’d love for you to enjoy greater wellness and the amazing life God intends for you to live.

You can join me in saying, “I praise you (God) because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” —Psalm 139:14 NIV

I believe our bodies can heal when they are given the tools they need to regain optimal function. There is always hope. With God all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26b NIV)
